bidmylid

For brands

Advertise on the laptops your buyers already carry

A laptop lid is a 3x3 grid. The center cell belongs to the laptop's own logo, which leaves 8 rentable zones. You rent one zone, on one lid, for one month at a time, and the lid goes wherever its owner goes: the office, the conference, the coffee shop table next to a competitor's.

How targeting works

You bid on segments, never on individuals. Three ways to aim. Each campaign picks one; run several campaigns to combine them, and a location campaign can additionally narrow by lid tier.

By company

A named employer's verified employees. Your decal rides into that office every morning, on a laptop that belongs to someone who actually works there.

By city

Every claimed lid in a metro. Coffee shops, coworking desks, and the table next to the one you would have bought a billboard for.

By region

A whole region when you want volume over precision, and you care more about repetition than about which office it lands in.

Owners stay anonymous throughout. You see that a matching lid accepted and where the placement sits, never who is carrying it.

What a zone costs

Price follows the tier of the lid, which follows the work email its owner proved. These are floors, per zone, per month, in USD. While a tier has open zones, the floor is the price to win, and competition between bids can settle a winner above it. Once a tier sells out, winning a zone means displacing an incumbent and the price to win rises.

  • S · Frontierfrom $100/zone/mo
  • A · Big techfrom $50/zone/mo
  • B · Startupfrom $15/zone/mo
  • C · Explorerfrom $5/zone/mo

A lid can accept work aimed at its own tier or any tier below it, paid at that lower tier's rate. Buying tier B does not exclude a frontier-lab lid with an idle zone; it just means that owner is paid the tier B rate for it.

How bidding works

Every campaign carries one bid: the most it will pay for one zone, for one month. It is a ceiling, not a charge, and it never wins a lid on its own. The owner still says yes or no to every placement.

Your bid

The most you will pay for one zone, for one month. It is a ceiling, not a charge, and we never raise it. Bid under a tier's floor and you cannot win in that tier, because nobody trades below the reserve, and a campaign that never sets a bid competes at the floor.

A bid ranks

The highest bid sits at the top of every matching owner's feed. That is what the money buys: position in front of people. It does not hand you a zone, because the owner approves or refuses each placement themselves.

You pay second price

A win clears one increment ($1) above the best competing bid you outranked, never above your own bid and never below the tier floor. With nobody to beat, you pay the floor. Bidding your true maximum wins you position, not a bigger bill.

Sold-out tiers

While a tier has open zones, the floor is the price to win. Once it has none, winning means displacing an incumbent: the price to win becomes the displacement price, and a campaign bidding under that wins nothing in that tier until the price comes back down.

Worked through, on a tier B lid with a $15 floor: two campaigns want it, one bidding $40 and one bidding $22. The $40 campaign sits at the top of that owner's feed, and if the owner accepts, it is billed $23: one increment above the bid it beat, not the $40 it was willing to pay. With no rival bid it would have paid the $15 floor. How a sold-out tier reprices.

Where you set it: the campaign form shows the live price to win in every tier you are buying, starts your bid there so a new campaign is competitive rather than instantly outbid, and will not take a bid below it. Early access, stated plainly: there is no bidding volume, win rate, or clearing history to brag about yet, and no bid at any price puts a sticker on a lid without its owner's yes.

What a campaign costs

The rate you see is your all-in cost: bidmylid keeps 10% of it and the owner keeps 90%. No setup fee, no separate platform charge, and billing runs month to month per live placement. At the floor, a $1,000 monthly budget buys:

  • S · Frontier10 zones at $100 each
  • A · Big tech20 zones at $50 each
  • B · Startup66 zones at $15 each
  • C · Explorer200 zones at $5 each

A campaign takes at most one zone per lid, so ten zones means ten different laptops. Those counts assume floor prices: a contested zone clears higher, up to your bid, so read them as the most a budget buys rather than a promise. The rate you book at is the rate you pay for that placement's full term, even if the tier reprices later.

How your stickers reach lids

  1. 01

    You send us the vinyl

Die-cut, removable, sized to fit one zone. Mail it to us or arrange pickup in San Francisco. We check the batch and store it.

  2. 02

    Matching owners see the offer

Every owner whose lid matches your segment sees your brand, the decal, the category you declared, and what the zone pays them net. Your bid decides how high up that feed you sit. Any of them can still say no.

  3. 03

We ship, they place, we bill

We mail one sticker to each accepting owner. Your campaign is paid for when you launch it and each acceptance draws against that funding, so the 30 days you bought start the day their photo of the placed sticker passes review. What no owner takes comes back as credit.

Shipping is US only for now, so campaigns reach US lids only. An in-house printing service is future work, not something you can buy today.

What you need to provide

  • Die-cut removable vinyl, sized to a single zone, in enough quantity for the zones you want to fill.
  • An honest campaign category. Owners block categories up front, so a mislabelled campaign reaches the wrong people and gets pulled.
  • Creative that passes review. We reject anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, or infringing.
  • A target segment and a monthly budget. Your spend never exceeds the budget you set.

Categories you can be declared as, and that owners can block: dev tools & infra, AI products, consumer apps, fintech, crypto & web3, gambling & betting, political & advocacy, everything else.

Questions brands ask

How does bidding decide what I pay?
Your campaign's bid is the most it will pay per zone per month, and it is a ceiling rather than a charge. Bids rank the offers in a matching owner's feed and price the winner: a win clears one increment ($1) above the best competing bid it outranked, never above your own bid and never below the tier floor, and a campaign with nobody to beat pays the floor. A bid under a tier's floor cannot win in that tier.
Does the highest bid get the lid?
No. A bid buys position in a matching owner's feed, not a placement. Every lid owner approves or refuses the offers in front of them, so the highest bid gets seen first and still gets a no if the owner wants to say no. Nothing is charged for an offer nobody accepted.
What happens if I am outbid?
Nothing is placed and nothing is charged. While a tier still has open zones, a campaign bidding the floor can win one. Once a tier has no open zones, winning means displacing an incumbent, and a campaign bidding under that displacement price wins nothing in that tier until the price comes back down. Raise the bid or wait for a zone to reopen.
Can I target a specific person?
No. You bid on segments only: a company's verified employees, a city, or a region. Owners stay anonymous. You never see a name, email address, shipping address, or social handle, only that a matching lid accepted.
How do you know someone really works there?
Owners prove employment with a one-time code sent to their work email. The verified domain sets the lid's tier. We keep the domain and a one-way hash of the address, never the address itself, and a typed company name never sets a tier on its own.
Do you print the stickers?
Not yet. You supply your own die-cut vinyl today, by mail or by pickup in San Francisco. We receive it, check it, store it, and ship each accepting owner their sticker. In-house printing is future work.
What if an owner peels my sticker off?
The zone reopens and you are refunded the remainder of that month. Billing is monthly per live placement, so you only pay for time a sticker is actually on a lid.
Is the platform fee on top of the rate?
No. The rate you see is your all-in cost. bidmylid keeps 10% of it and the owner keeps 90%. There is no separate platform charge and no setup fee. Billing runs month to month per live placement: pause a campaign whenever you like to stop new placements, and the ones already on lids bill until they end.
